Bars & Brownies No-Bake Sweet

Cookies & Cream Krispie Treats

Easy to make and even easier to eat, these no-bake treats are sure to satisfy.

Oreos have quite the fan base considering their place in the grocery aisle as a simple sandwich cookie. They have capitalized on their simple formula and expanded their strategy to include a wide variety of flavors, from golden to birthday cake to peanut butter pie. The traditional recipe has become a staple flavoring in the baking world, as almost anything “cookies and cream” flavored, really, bases its flavor on the classic Oreo flavor combination.

My brother-in-law is pretty passionate about Oreo cookies, and I’m always looking for new ways to incorporate them into recipes on his behalf. Traditional Rice Krispies treats are one of the most perfect, easy recipes you can make. Marshmallows, butter, and Rice Krispies combine to make a fantastic snackable, packable dessert that is great for sharing. Why not mix in a few Double Stuf Oreos and transform a traditional dessert into something epic?

These Oreo Rice Krispie treats are an ideal summertime no-bake recipe. While it does require turning on your stove, it doesn’t heat up your kitchen nearly as much as would a dessert needing time in the oven. (Plus – if you don’t have access to a stove, or if it’s just too hot for any traditional cooking – you could melt the marshmallows in the microwave, making this a very dorm-friendly recipe.)

These are also a great treat to bring to bonfires; since this recipe contains a significant proportion of marshmallows, these treats gain a lot of flavor when roasted over an open flame.

As you might expect, the ingredients for these treats are pretty basic. You need a box of Rice Krispies, half of a pack of Double Stuf Oreos, half of a stick of butter, a 15-oz bag of mini marshmallows, and a couple of teaspoons of vanilla extract. You’ll also need a large saucepan to melt your marshmallows and butter, plus a 9″ by 13″ pan to press your final treats into.

Start by using your butter wrapper grease the 9” x 13” baking dish. Set aside.

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. While the butter is melting, chop your Oreos into small pieces and mix with Rice Krispies in a large bowl. Set aside.

Once the butter has melted, mix in your mini marshmallows and vanilla extract. Stir constantly, until the mixture has transformed into a liquid marshmallow sauce. Remove from heat.

(If you don’t have access to a stove, use a large heat-proof bowl to melt your butter. Add the vanilla extract and mini marshmallows and heat in roughly 45 second increments, stirring between each heating. Your marshmallow sauce is ready when the marshmallows are completely melted, with no residual chunks.)

Combine the melted marshmallow mixture with your cereal and Oreo mixture. Stir constantly, ensuring that all of the cereal and cookies are thoroughly coated.

Press the mixture into your 9” by 13” pan and allow to cool for about an hour before slicing and serving.

This recipe makes very thick Rice Krispies treats. If you wanted them to be a more the traditional thickness, spread the mixture out over two 9” by 13” baking dishes.

I hope these cookies & cream Krispie treats meet your expectations! If you make them at home, feel free to tag your social media photos with @ WhiskAverseBaking, or leave a message in the comments below.

These Oreo Rice Krispies Treats are very thick. For more average-thickness treats, spread the mixture over two prepared 9″ by 13″ baking dishes.
These treats taste wonderful at room temperature, but are even better when roasted over a campfire!
If you don’t have access to a stove (or don’t want to heat up your kitchen), you can melt the butter, vanilla extract, and marshmallows together in a large, heatproof bowl using your microwave. I recommend heating for about 45 seconds at a time and stirring between each heat cycle to make sure all of the marshmallows melt completely.
